Australian Motocross Championship - Grand Final KTM out to win
Marmont & Gillespie aim for KTM 250 SX-F winning form at Oz Motocross finale
The grand finale of the men’s and women’s Australian Motocross Championship will take place at Coolum in Queensland this Sunday July 23, where Motorex KTM’s Ryan Marmont and Wodonga KTM’s Kristy Gillespie hope to continue their winning streak for the outright Australian title.

Ryan Marmont gets some air
Marmont and Gillespie share two things in common, they’re both riding the KTM 250 SX-F and they’re both leading their individual classes in the Australian Motocross Championship.
Ryan Marmont has been unstoppable all season claiming numerous podium positions to sit with a comfortable 35 point lead in the men’s Pro Lite Championship. The last time Marmont raced at Coolum he won, giving him all the more confidence to seal the Australian Pro Lites Championship this weekend.
Going into the grand final event Marmont sits on 364 points in the Pro Lite Championship, Cameron Taylor of Serco Yamaha is in second on 329 and Troy Dorron of No Fear Honda is in third on 310.
Commenting on his preparation for Coolum Ryan Marmont said, “My game plan will be to ride smart this weekend. I have a comfortable lead so if I keep up my consistent riding style like I have done all season I should come away with the Pro Lites Championship.”
For Wodonga KTM’s Kristy Gillespie the Championship has just begun. Motorcycling Australia has sanctioned two rounds of the series to determine the overall women’s champion. The previous round at Newcastle in which Gillespie dominated and the final event at Coolum will be the deciding rounds.

Kristy Gillespie
Gillespie has participated all year against the men on a state level, beating half of the field by finishing mid pack from a start line of 40 riders. Now that the Women’s Championship is underway Kristy has proven to be the fastest girl on the track, with her biggest competition coming from New Zealand KTM rider, Emma Davis.
“I’ve ridden at Coolum before a few times and I like the track. My confident builds when I get a good start so that will be my game plan for the final round, “ said Gillespie.
The Women’s Championship points sit with Kristy Gillespie and Wodonga KTM leading on 50 points, Emma Davis of KTM New Zealand in second on 44 and privateer rider Adelia Barton in third on 40 points.
Tickets to Sunday’s Nokia MX Nationals can be purchased at the gate and cost $25 for an adult, $10 for a child (5 – 15 years) and $60 for a family (two adults and two children). For further information on the event see www.ozmotox.com.
