Track Information

This is the eighth of ten rounds of the national championships. This is the first time since 2000 that a round of the National Motocross Championships has been held at the Broadford State Motorcycle Sports Complex.

Training & Fitness Updates

Craig Anderson has been training as per usual and had a practice session at Broadford approximately two weeks ago. He is fit and ready to challenge for the lead on Sunday.

Troy Dorron is recovering from a ‘squashed’ shoulder ligament he copped as a result of two massive crashes at round seven at Toowoomba.

All other riders including Cody Cooper, Danny Anderson and Rebecca Lipsett are at full fitness.

Rider Information

Ando has won the last four rounds in a row, including six out of eight race wins, and is looking unstoppable as the series comes to a head over the next three successive weekends.

All of the Team riders have a solid amount of experience riding on the Broadford track after various testing and promotional days held there in recent months.

Current Championship Points

  • Craig Anderson: 307 pts (2nd)
  • Cody Cooper: 232 pts (4th)
  • Danny Anderson: 144 pts (11th)
  • Troy Dorron: 233 pts (3rd)
  • Rebecca Lipsett National Cup (n/a)

There is a gap of only six points between Ando and current series leader Daryl Hurley whilst Cooper sits one point away from the third place position.

After a frustrating round in Toowoomba last month, Troy Dorron has dropped back from first to third position, however less than 20 points separates Doz and Cameron Taylor who currently sits in second.

Quotes

Craig Anderson – “I’m confident of being able to make this my fifth round win in a row and am ready to go. And I'm hoping for some mud...I like racing in those conditions. It's been quite a long time since there has been a Championship round at Broadford, but I always like riding there and have been fortunate to get quite a bit of time on the track recently."

Cody Cooper – “My goal at this point is to slot up into third position so I can finish on the podium by the end of this series. I think that would be a pretty good accomplishment for my first year in the Open class. I’ve finished a little bit stronger at each of the last few rounds so I’m planning on keeping that momentum going.”

Danny Anderson – “My race form has been getting better as the season has progressed so I’m happy about that. It would be good to finish the season a few more places up on the ladder from where I am now. That is my goal over these next three rounds.”

Troy Dorron – “I’ve had to take it pretty slow over the past few weeks in order to get my shoulder right and I couldn’t ride for two weeks. It’s been a little frustrating but I’m fine now and trained extremely hard this past week. I’m planning on getting back some of the points that I lost in Toowoomba. I know Broadford pretty well and am looking forward to racing there.”

Rebecca Lipsett – “I’ve been working really hard on getting my pace up and it’s paying off, but I’m also working hard on my fitness. It’s no good if I can go as fast as the guys but then can’t keep that pace up for the duration of the race. I’m looking forward to just getting out and having another day of racing before the Women’s Championships at the final two rounds.”

Pip Harrison (Team Manager) – “The Broadford track is a good one and all of the guys have been riding there over many years. It’s always prepared well for racing and we are expecting to come away with some more top results on the board.”
