GHR HONDA’S GRABHAM ADDS HATTAH TROPHY TO COLLECTION
Glenn Hoffmann Honda’s star desert enduro rider, Ben Grabham, demolished the competition at the Hattah Desert Enduro, held near Mildura, VIC this past weekend.
Not only did ‘Grabbo’ take out the previous day’s prologue,
he flew ahead on each lap of the tough 45 km loop to
finish around 12 minutes in front of nearest compettor,
Glenn Kearney.
On the heels of winning the Finke Desert Race last month, the Hattah win confirms Grabham’s dominance in the desert on his CRF450.
It is also a fresh confidence boost for the multiple champion who will be celebrating his 26th birthday next week, prior to taking on the Australian Safari in WA this August.
“I had a really good ride and set the fastest time in the prologue by around four seconds, so that gave me good start for the race,” Grabbo said.
“I managed to pull out a 15 second lead on the first lap, and then increased that to about
four minutes by mid race.”
After first competing at Hattah last year where he finished second, Grabham easily achieved his goal of winning this year’s event.
“Even though the track was really rough because of the moisture they’ve had recently, the bike was perfect and everything just went exactly to plan.”
“I did have the flu last week, but that didn’t really hold me back.” “It’s just good to get the two big Australian desert wins for the year. Now I just have to win the Safari!” he said.
After posting the second quickest time in the prologue, GHR team mate Jason Hill
unfortunately had to retire early after re-injuring his knee.
Grabham and AJ Roberts will next compete at the penultimate round of the Australian Off
Road Series in Wonthaggi on August 18-19.
