Josh Coppins Back in Action For International Oceania MX!

Clalm before the storm

It has been a bitter pill to swallow for world championship star rider Josh Coppins from New Zealand. Having to sit out because of a shoulder injury and watch a huge points lead disappear in the MX1 World Championship, and with it any chance of winning the World title, has had fans the world over empathising for Josh and wishing him well.

Amoungst those fans are organisers of the upcoming International Oceania MX Championships, the Sporting Motorcycle Club, who are happy to say they have had word from Josh saying he will soon be back on track and looking forward to competing at Barrabool on October 27/28.

“Josh is a big fan of McAdam Park, Barrabool” says event manager, Peter Ovens from S.M.C.C. “and we are pleased to hear his shoulder is on the mend. Josh knows how important it is we save this track, and we really value his support.  He will compete in several events before embarking on his trip back home from Europe, and he will be bringing his 2 mechanics with him, plus a trunk full of trick bits for the bike!”

The club is in the midst of a fundraising campaign, with funds raised going towards the purchase of the McAdam Park land, which it must do to ensure the track’s survival.  To help the club keep the land, and any chance of more International events, you can sponsor tiles on the club’s “Big Picture” Wall and get your name on the Wall forever by going to www.bigpicturewall.com

Josh competed at the 2005 Oceania MX held at Barrabool, and was very impressed by the event which he said was World Class.  Ovens added “We really appreciate Josh getting behind us, and will certainly spoil him during his visit to Barrabool, as we will with other star riders who want to support this great event and great venue.”
