Ride 4 Kids a Roaring Success
Over 150 riders headed to Broadford for the 2007 Ride 4 Kids fundraising event for Challenge, a not for profit organisation that supports children living with cancer and their families.
Riders of all classes took to the track for a good cause, as well as for the opportunity to ride with pros and have the chance to win a brand new 450 EXC–R motorbike, courtesy of event partner KTM.
“The Ride 4 Kids is an integral part of Challenge’s annual fundraising efforts, and even the heat couldn’t keep the riders from participating in this year’s event. With fantastic support from KTM, we are looking forward to an even bigger and better Ride 4 Kids event in 2008”, says Challenge CEO David Rogers.
This year saw the introduction of an Enduro Loop component, along with the traditional motocross classes, with the new format set to become a permanent fixture.
A tremendous effort was made by all participants to raise funds for Challenge, and in particular, by the Junior Small Wheel riders, whose top three fundraisers alone raised almost $17,000.
Congratulations also to the highest fundraiser for the event, Luke Robertson, who blitzed the field by raising over $11,000 and is now the owner of a brilliant new KTM bike.
Overall, $50,000 was raised on the day and all money will go directly towards Challenge’s quality, tailored support programs and services.
Challenge would also like to thank Accessoride, Fox, O’Neal, Scott, Motorcycling Victoria, MXTV and the staff at the State Motorcycle Sports Complex for all of their support.
4 children are diagnosed with cancer in Victoria every week, with another 1000 currently undergoing treatment.
