The Honda MXTV Charity Ride and Trail Bike Rally held last weekend was deemed a huge success with over 250 people attending the inaugural event held 2 1/12 hours from Sydney.

Event organiser Rod Cartwright said near perfect weather made for a festival-like gathering for families of all ages.

“Rain fell on Friday making the tracks dust free, plus we had three tracks for the kids and a forest ride for the dads and mums,” Rod explained.

“There was also a nippers loop for the beginners, a mini enduro loop of about 15 minutes for the more advanced riders and a grass track for some fun; I tell you what the young ones did not stop all weekend, and parents were encouraged to ride with their kids making for a real family riding experience.”

Rod said the 75 km forest loop for adult riders included both easy and hard sections, and was very well received.

“From all accounts this ride was a hoot and offered both tight single, challenging trails to fast flowing trails that provided a bit of breathing space,” Rod said.

Participants travelled from as far away as Mudgee to attend, with the Bowden family being the lucky winners of the Honda CRF50 prize draw presented on Sunday.

“Tim Bowden (12 yrs) and brother Daniel (8) were awe struck with the mini,” Rod said. “Daniel made it clear that he reckoned he should get the bike because his brother is a bit big for it!”

Chris Flaherty from trailbikerallys.com.au said they achieved their aim for the event which was to bring families together in one place were they could enjoy the sport of motorcycling, as well as raise much needed funds for Kids with Cancer via The Stephen Walter Fund.

“We raised In excess of $4000 and thanks must go out to all the volunteers who put their time in to make this event so successful,” Chris said.

“The paddocks of the property owned by Kel and Narelle were full of colour rather than cows, and no one went hungry at the event with the Coolongolook Tennis club cooking awesome tucker all weekend.”
