The MXTV Team
Brendan Bell
Brendan Bell is the host, executive producer,
and the driving force behind MXTV.
Brendan started out like many others who are addicted to the sport, and was riding motorbikes practically before he could walk. As a youngster, he had an almost singular passion for motocross and spent most of his time on the back of a KX 80 racing around the open spaces of Campbellfield in Victoria. He was eventually allowed to start racing at 14 after his mum figured this was something he simply wasn't going to grow out of! In fact, Brendan was somewhat unique at his school, as when asked by a careers counsellor what he wanted to be when he grew up, he replied "a professional motocross rider" - this at a time when such a thing was unheard of in Australia. Suffice it to say, the reply he received was less than encouraging! Brendan held on to that dream for some time however, and was even good enough to be spotted by the talent scouts at Suzuki who offered him a place as a junior rider on their team. Although eventually other priorities began to take precedence in his late teens, Brendan's love of the sport, and his ability to never take no for an answer has not waivered.
Seeing the potential in the sport, (and with absolutely no knowledge of how to make a television show), he set about creating a TV show about off road bikes. That show was MXTV, and aired on Melbourne's channel 31 for the first time in 2001.
In the years that followed, Brendan has spent countless hours producing each show, often self funding the production; and has travelled to all manner of places and events - both locally and interstate - in order to cover and promote the sport on MXTV.
Today - as before - Brendan continues to pursue his passion for all things off road, and is continually promoting the sport wherever, and whenever possible.
When not working on the show, Brendan likes to spend time at home with his family, and is patiently waiting until his young son; Cameron, is old enough to go riding with the old man.
